The Trust is managed by local people and makes grants to local causes. Donors know that their money will only go to support charities and voluntary groups whose work will benefit local people. (Our efforts are intentionally concentrated on smaller organisations which are often overlooked.)
The Trust is governed by a Board of trustees from a variety of backgrounds, with a wide range of skills and experience, and an extensive knowledge of the local community and its needs. It has established comprehensive grant-making policies and procedures, ensuring each application is dealt with efficiently and assessed carefully.
Many needs are often hidden from view. Small less well-known groups undertake a great deal of vital work in the community. It can be difficult to identify such local charities and projects which need support. The Trust’s local knowledge can help identify suitable recipients and reach those who might not otherwise find the funds they need.

Charities can now claim back the tax paid on donations. Using Gift Aid means that for every £1 you give, the charity gets an extra 25p helping your donation go further. So for every £10 you give, the charity will get another £2.50 from the government. Plus, if you are a higher rate taxpayer you can claim tax relief on the donation in your annual tax return.
Donations are normally applied to the Trust’s general grants fund, but for larger amounts the donor can request a named Fund to reflect individual interests. This could relate to the type of cause helped
(e.g. older people) or specific geographic region (e.g. Jaywick)
